Link-Assist Service

Beck provides a complementary service called Link-Assist to support the setup and installation of our linkage connected actuator products. Link-Assist is an exclusive linkage program that provides Beck Engineers the ability to design an optimal linkage configuration based on your application specific constraints. Beck can supply you with the recommended linkage length, crank/lever arm start angles, and crank/lever arm radii. This information is available in a date-stamped comprehensive report that also provides the delivered torque and force profiles throughout travel.
Sample Link-Assist Report

Link-Assist reports can be generated for new installations or to ensure optimal setup of existing installations. Download a sample of a completed Link-Assist Report by clicking the icon above.

What information is required to obtain a Link-Assist Report?

Watch the following video for instructions on how to obtain the necessary information for Beck to provide you with a Link-Assist report. Click here if the video is not viewable.

Download Linkage Setup Worksheets (PDF 92kB)

Linkage setup worksheets are available for download to make it easier for recording the data shown in the video above. Several worksheet orientations are provided, so that you may select the most appropriate for your application. Once completed, the worksheets may be faxed to Beck at 215-860-6383 or emailed to the sales@haroldbeck.com email address. A Sales or Application Engineer will evaluate and process your link-assist promptly. Please be sure to include your telephone number and fax number or email address.

The information presented in the video is repeated in the tabs below:
  • Nameplate
  • Offset Dimensions
  • Lever Arm
  • Closed Angle
  • Travel
Beck product information - supply your Beck actuator model number and torque rating. If you have the serial number, that works best.

Horizontal & Vertical Offsets - The horizontal (H) and vertical (V) dimension between the Beck actuator output shaft center and the driven shaft center
Lever Arm Radius - The distance from the driven shaft center to the linkage connection point. If multiple connection points exist or if the lever arm radius is adjustable, please provide that information too.

Lever Arm Start Position* - When the application is closed or at 0%, measure the arm angle relative to the 9 o'clock position on a clock face. See the reference frame for further information.

*NOTE: When measuring lever arm or Beck crank arm angles, the angle should be taken on the centerline of the arm and not the outside edge of the arm. The Beck crank arm and many lever arms are tapered on the outer edge, which can skew your angular dimension.

Total lever arm travel and Direction of rotation- The total rotation in degrees that the lever arm travels from the 0% to the 100% position (closed to open). The example photo to the right shows a counter-clockwise rotation from the closed position to the open position. See the reference frame for further information.
